Volunteering is an essential part of the fan-run convention experience. It’s how we are able to ensure that the workers providing the show for you understand what a convention means to the community. To that effect, we allow people to sign up for 1 of 3 types of volunteer schedules. Either volunteer a little, for a single weekend pass, a medium amount which also grants you a full weekend pass, or get the complete convention workers experience by working even more, and we will reserve you a spot in one of our staff hotel rooms with 3 other convention volunteers, so you can stay the night on-site free of charge.

Specific Staff Needed:

Some positions are need a bit of extra coordination before the event happens, so we are prioritizing the placement of the following positions:

Guest Handlers : A staff member who’s job will be to make sure any guest has what they need to get to and from each of their events on the schedule. Because our special guests have particular needs outlined in their contracts, any handler will be working with the Guest Relations Director prior to find out their assignment specifics. Prior experience and accessible references are a huge plus, even if they are not convention-specific experiences.

Registration : Our registration system is handled by a 3rd party, and so registration volunteers will be working a point-of-sale system on a laptop or tablet. They will be divided into groups that handle cash, cards, or pre-paid, so if you have experience with any of these, please let us know. Training in the use of the system will be the conventions responsibility. You are not expected to know the software before volunteering.

Safety and Line Control : These volunteers will not only direct the flow of people through the convention space, but also be the public’s direct line to the convention if they have any concerns such as questionable behavior, a lost child, or missing items. These volunteers will be trained in who to contact if a professional is required, and will not be handling any emergencies themselves.
